Ethereum Bridge: how to bridge to and from Ethereum

Ethereum runs Ethereum-compatible smart contracts, so almost every bridge and aggregator supports it. Routes to other EVM chains are cheap and fast; routes to chains without smart contracts depend on native swap protocols or custodians.

Quick answer

Services supporting Ethereum: 33. Most used in our guides: Circle CCTP, Across, Relay, Stargate. Direct transfers possible to: Bitcoin, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Base, TRON, Hyperliquid.

Popular services

  • Circle CCTP

CCTP is run by Circle, the company that issues USDC. It moves real USDC between networks: Circle destroys the coins on one side and creates the same amount on the other. You end up with genuine USDC, not a wrapped copy.

  • Across

Across moves coins between Ethereum, its layer 2 networks and several other chains, usually in seconds. You send funds on one network, and an independent relayer pays you on the other side from its own money. The relayer gets paid back later, so you do not have to wait.

  • Relay

Relay moves and swaps coins between networks, usually in seconds. You say what you want, and a solver pays you on the destination network right away from its own funds. The solver settles up with Relay afterwards.

  • Stargate

Stargate moves stablecoins like USDC and USDT, plus ETH, between many Ethereum-style networks. It keeps a pool of real coins on each network. You put coins into the pool on one side and get real coins out of the pool on the other. In 2025 the LayerZero Foundation bought Stargate, and STG can be swapped for ZRO until December 15, 2026.

Alternative ways to move funds

Move stablecoins instead

Converting to USDC or USDT and moving it through the issuer’s own transfer protocol often has the widest coverage and the least slippage. Swap back on the destination if you need another asset.

Two steps through a well-connected chain

If no single route exists, first move to a chain with many connections (Ethereum, Solana or a major rollup), then on to the destination. It costs two fees, but each step uses a well-tested route.

Through a centralised exchange

Deposit on Ethereum, trade if needed, and withdraw on the destination network. Simple and often cheap, but the exchange holds your funds in between and needs identity verification.

Wrapped tokens

A custodian or federation holds the original coin and issues a token on another chain. Convenient for DeFi, but the token is only as safe as whoever backs it.

How transfers work on Ethereum

  • Liquidity bridges and intent networks deliver funds in seconds to minutes by fronting the money on the destination chain.
  • Stablecoin issuers (Circle CCTP for USDC, USDT0 for USDT) burn on Ethereum and mint on the destination, so you receive the official token.
  • Aggregators compare many bridges at once and are a good starting point when you are unsure.

What to watch out for

  • The same token can exist in several wrapped versions. Check the contract address you receive.
  • You need a little of the native gas token on the destination chain to use the funds.

Frequently asked questions

How can I bridge from Ethereum?

33 of the projects we review support Ethereum, including Across, Stargate, Wormhole. We have 42 route guides that involve Ethereum.

Which major chains can I reach from Ethereum directly?

Directly: Bitcoin, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Base, TRON, Hyperliquid. Other destinations need two steps or an exchange.

What if there is no bridge for my Ethereum route?

Use a centralised exchange, take two steps through a well-connected chain such as Ethereum or Solana, or move a stablecoin instead and swap on arrival.
