Aptos to Ethereum bridge
Aptos is not an EVM chain, so you sign the transfer in an Aptos wallet such as Petra, pay gas in APT and receive on an Ethereum address. Circle CCTP V2 is live on Aptos and moves native USDC to Ethereum by burn and mint. Tokens that came in through Wormhole or LayerZero usually go back the same way.

Short answer
Aptos runs its own Move based virtual machine and its own account system. To leave it you need an Aptos wallet such as Petra to sign the transfer and a little APT for gas. On the Ethereum side you receive at a normal 0x address from a wallet such as MetaMask.
Which bridge to use depends on the token you hold. Native USDC goes through Circle CCTP: it is burned on Aptos and minted on Ethereum. Older bridged USDC from LayerZero, called lzUSDC, is a different token and cannot use CCTP. Wrapped tokens from Wormhole or LayerZero usually return through the bridge that issued them.
| Virtual machine | Aptos (not EVM) |
|---|---|
| Gas when sending | APT |
| Native USDC route | Circle CCTP V2, standard transfer |
| CCTP Fast Transfer from Aptos | Not offered, Circle says standard is already fast |
| Destination address | Ethereum 0x address, 42 characters |
Why this route is difficult
Aptos and Ethereum use different virtual machines and different wallets. You sign on Aptos with an Aptos wallet and receive on Ethereum in an EVM wallet, so you need both set up before you start.
The token decides the route. Native USDC goes through Circle CCTP, while tokens that came in through Wormhole or LayerZero usually have to go back the same way. If you want to turn APT into ETH, use a swap app or an exchange.
Possible approaches
1Circle CCTP
Native USDC is burned on Aptos, Circle attests to the burn, and the same amount is minted on Ethereum.
Trade-offYou get native USDC with no wrapped token, but only USDC is supported and you rely on Circle.
2Wormhole
Wormhole guardians confirm the transfer on Aptos, and the token is released or minted on Ethereum.
Trade-offCovers more tokens, but wrapped tokens have to return through the bridge that issued them.
3LayerZero bridges
LayerZero messaging moves tokens such as lzUSDC from Aptos back to Ethereum.
Trade-offNeeded for legacy LayerZero tokens, but check that the route is still open and which token you get.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC on Ethereum | Check the estimate in the app | APT gas, plus ETH gas for the mint if you pay it yourself. No Circle fee for standard transfers | Moving USDC |
| Wormhole | Supported tokens on Ethereum | Shown before you confirm | APT gas plus bridge fees | Tokens that came in through Wormhole |
| LayerZero bridges | Depends on the token | Shown before you confirm | APT gas plus messaging fee | Returning lzUSDC and other LayerZero tokens |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC on Ethereum | Burn and mint by Circle | CCTP V2 is live on Aptos. Circle lists Aptos as a standard transfer source and says Fast Transfer is not needed there. |
| Wormhole | Supported tokens on Ethereum | Wormhole guardian network | Covers Aptos. Use it for tokens that came in through Wormhole. |
| LayerZero | Depends on the token | LayerZero messaging | Route back for lzUSDC and other tokens from the Aptos Bridge by LayerZero. Check that it is still open. |
| Stargate | Depends on the route | Liquidity pools with LayerZero messaging | Built on LayerZero. Check current Aptos support in the app before you start. |
How to move Aptos to Ethereum
These steps show how to send USDC from Aptos to Ethereum with a CCTP route. For other tokens, use the bridge the token came from and follow its quote.
- 1
Check the token
Open your Aptos wallet, such as Petra, and check that you hold native USDC. lzUSDC and other bridged versions do not work with CCTP.
- 2
Have APT and ETH ready
You need a little APT to pay gas on Aptos. If the app asks you to finish the transfer on Ethereum yourself, you also need ETH in your Ethereum wallet.
- 3
Connect both wallets
Open a bridge app that offers a CCTP route for Aptos. Connect your Aptos wallet and your Ethereum wallet, and choose Aptos as the source and Ethereum as the destination.
- 4
Send and receive
Enter the amount, check the Ethereum address and sign on Aptos. Once Circle's attestation is ready, USDC is minted on Ethereum, either by the app or by a transaction you sign.
Fees and timing
Sending from Aptos costs gas in APT, which is usually a small amount.
Circle charges no fee for standard CCTP transfers. If you complete the mint on Ethereum yourself, you pay that gas in ETH, and the app may add its own fee.
Wormhole and LayerZero routes show their fees in the quote. Compare the amount and the exact token you receive on Ethereum.
Common mistakes
- Mixing up addresses. Aptos and Ethereum addresses both start with 0x, but an Aptos account address is usually much longer. The destination must be your 42 character Ethereum address.
- Trying to send lzUSDC through CCTP. Only native USDC works there.
- Running out of APT for gas, or having no ETH on Ethereum when the app asks you to finish the transfer there.
Before you transfer
- Send a small test amount first, especially the first time you bridge out of an Aptos wallet.
- If you want ETH rather than USDC, compare a swap app or exchange with bridging USDC and swapping on Ethereum.
- Open bridge sites from a bookmark or the project's official links, not from ads.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. You sign the transfer on Aptos with an Aptos wallet such as Petra and enter your Ethereum 0x address as the recipient.
Circle CCTP. It burns native USDC on Aptos and mints native USDC on Ethereum. Circle charges no fee for standard transfers.
No. lzUSDC is USDC bridged by LayerZero, not native USDC. Send it back through the LayerZero route it came from, or swap it for native USDC on Aptos first.
APT on Aptos to send the transfer. If the app does not complete the Ethereum side for you, ETH in your Ethereum wallet as well.
