Dogecoin to Ethereum Bridge
There is no trust-minimized Dogecoin to Ethereum bridge and no widely used wrapped DOGE ERC20 token. What works today is a swap: THORChain and NEAR Intents take real DOGE and pay real ETH or stablecoins on Ethereum. Exchanges do the same with an account.

Short answer
Short answer: a Dogecoin to Ethereum bridge that lets you hold DOGE on Ethereum without trusting a custodian does not exist yet. Old wrapped DOGE ERC20 tokens, like renDOGE, are gone or barely trade. So DOGE to ETH today means a swap. You send real DOGE and receive real ETH, USDC or USDT in your Ethereum wallet.
THORChain is the most direct option. It holds pools of native coins on both chains and swaps DOGE for ETH without wrapping anything. NEAR Intents does the same job with solvers, which are market makers that compete to fill your order. A centralized exchange that lists DOGE is the familiar backup.
Dogecoin is the slow part. A block comes about once a minute, and services wait for several confirmations, so 20 to 60 minutes is normal. Teams are working on ways to put DOGE into smart contracts, such as DogeOS and QED, but none of them gives you redeemable DOGE on Ethereum yet. The outlook below tracks them.
| Direct bridge | No trust-minimized one |
|---|---|
| Most common way | Swap DOGE to ETH |
| Native swap services | THORChain, NEAR Intents |
| Wrapped DOGE ERC20 | No widely used, liquid version |
| Dogecoin block time | About 1 minute |
| Usual time | 20-60 min |
| Need ETH on arrival | Yes, for USDC or USDT |
Why this route is difficult
Dogecoin has no smart contracts. Its scripting is simple, like Bitcoin's. It cannot lock DOGE under rules that depend on what happens on Ethereum, and Ethereum cannot cheaply check Dogecoin blocks. So every DOGE token on Ethereum so far has needed someone to hold the real DOGE.
Past wrapped versions failed for practical reasons. renDOGE depended on RenVM, which shut down its first network after its owner Alameda Research collapsed in 2022. Custodial wrapped DOGE tokens from the 2021 rally never got much trading. A token with no market is not useful, even if it is well backed.
Most DOGE holders who want to use DOGE outside Dogecoin go to BNB Chain, where Binance issues Binance-Peg DOGE, or to Solana, where a Wormhole DOGE token exists. Ethereum has no equivalent with real use.
That is why swaps fill the gap. THORChain and NEAR Intents give you real ETH without anyone issuing DOGE on Ethereum. The cost is that you no longer hold DOGE.
Past attempts
| Project | When | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| renDOGE (RenVM) | 2021-2022 | Minted DOGE on Ethereum through RenVM's network of nodes. Ended when Ren shut down its first network after the Alameda Research collapse in late 2022. |
| Custodial wrapped DOGE ERC20s | 2021 | Several custodial DOGE tokens appeared on Ethereum during the 2021 rally. Trading stayed thin and none became a common way to use DOGE in DeFi. |
| Binance-Peg DOGE | 2020-2026 | Still live, but on BNB Chain, not Ethereum. Backed by DOGE that Binance holds. |
| Wormhole DOGE on Solana | 2025-2026 | A proof-backed DOGE token on Solana, handed out through Sunrise. It shows the model can work, but it targets Solana, not Ethereum. |
What is being built
DogeOS
TestnetAn EVM-compatible app layer for Dogecoin, so developers can use Ethereum tools like Hardhat and Foundry. It brings smart contracts to DOGE, but does not move DOGE to Ethereum.
QED zero-knowledge work
ResearchWork backed by the Dogecoin Foundation community on zero-knowledge proofs for Dogecoin, which could make trust-minimized bridges possible. Details and timing are not final.
THORChain DOGE pools
LiveNot a bridge, but the main live path. Native DOGE swaps to ETH and Ethereum stablecoins.
NEAR Intents DOGE swaps
LiveSolvers swap DOGE for Ethereum assets. Deposits and withdrawals were paused for about 12 hours after an exploit on 1 October 2026, and affected users were promised full refunds.
What still stands in the way
- Dogecoin has no smart contracts, so it cannot lock DOGE under rules tied to Ethereum.
- Ethereum cannot cheaply verify Dogecoin's proof-of-work blocks.
- Proof checks on Dogecoin itself would likely need a protocol change, which is slow and needs wide support.
- Past wrapped DOGE ERC20s never built real trading, so new ones start with little trust.
- DOGE demand outside Dogecoin has gone to BNB Chain and Solana, not Ethereum.
Signs the bridge is close
- A DogeOS mainnet launch, and whether it offers a route for DOGE to Ethereum.
- Any proposal to add zero-knowledge proof checks to Dogecoin reaching a release.
- A redeemable DOGE token on Ethereum with real Uniswap liquidity and published audits.
- Wormhole DOGE or a similar token expanding from Solana to Ethereum.
- THORChain DOGE pool depth, which decides how good large DOGE to ETH quotes are.
Possible approaches
1Native cross-chain swap
THORChain holds pools of native DOGE and native ETH, and swaps one for the other.
Trade-offWorks today with real coins on both sides. You give up DOGE and pay pool fees.
2Intent-based swap
You send DOGE to a deposit address and a solver pays you ETH or stablecoins on Ethereum.
Trade-offSimple, but you rely on the service and its solvers. It paused for about half a day after an exploit in October 2026.
3Custodial wrapped DOGE
A company holds DOGE and issues a matching ERC20 token on Ethereum.
Trade-offEasy to build, but you trust the custodian, and past attempts never found buyers.
4Proof-based DOGE bridge
Zero-knowledge proofs show that DOGE was really locked, so a token can be minted elsewhere with less trust in people.
Trade-offLess trust, but these projects are still in testing or research.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native cross-chain swap (THORChain) | Real ETH or Ethereum stablecoins | 20-60 min | Swap fee + outbound fee | DOGE to ETH without an account |
| Intent-based swap (NEAR Intents) | ETH, USDC or USDT | 15-45 min | Built into the rate | Simple quotes, when the service is running |
| Aggregator | Supported Ethereum tokens | 20-60 min | Route fees, maybe an extra fee | Comparing DOGE quotes |
| Centralized exchange | ETH or stablecoins | 30 min to a few hours | Trading + withdrawal fee | Large amounts |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| THORChain | ETH, USDC, USDT and other pool assets | THORChain node vaults | Native DOGE in, native ETH out. Use an app that builds the memo. |
| NEAR Intents | ETH, USDC, USDT | Solvers, settled on NEAR | Paused for about half a day after an exploit on 1 Oct 2026, then resumed. Affected users were promised refunds. |
| Rango Exchange | Supported Ethereum tokens | Depends on route | Compares DOGE routes. Check who fills the quote. |
| Centralized exchanges | ETH or stablecoins | Exchange holds funds | DOGE is widely listed. Account and ID checks usually needed. |
How to move Dogecoin to Ethereum
These steps show a THORChain swap from DOGE to ETH, using a wallet or app that supports THORChain, such as Vultisig, THORSwap or ASGARDEX. NEAR Intents apps follow almost the same flow.
- 1
Get your Ethereum address
Copy your address from MetaMask, Rabby or a hardware wallet. It starts with 0x and has 42 characters. Receiving ETH is easiest, since you need ETH later to move USDC or USDT.
- 2
Open a THORChain app with your DOGE
Use a wallet that holds DOGE and connects to THORChain, or an app that lets you send from your own DOGE wallet. Your DOGE address usually starts with D.
- 3
Get a quote
Pick DOGE as what you send and ETH on Ethereum as what you get. Paste your 0x address. Check the expected amount, the fees and the slippage limit, which is how much worse the price can get before the swap is refunded.
- 4
Check the memo and the vault address
THORChain swaps send DOGE to a network vault with a memo, a short note that tells THORChain what to do. Let the app build the transaction. A wrong or missing memo can lose funds.
- 5
Send DOGE and wait
Confirm the transaction in your wallet. THORChain waits for Dogecoin confirmations, then runs the swap and sends ETH. Large swaps may be spread out over time to get a better price.
- 6
Check the ETH arrived
Look up your address on Etherscan. You can also follow the swap on a THORChain explorer such as Runescan using your DOGE transaction ID.
Fees and timing
Dogecoin network fees are small, usually well under a cent to a few cents. They rarely matter. The main costs come from the swap route.
THORChain charges a liquidity fee that grows with the size of your swap compared to its pool, plus an outbound fee to pay the Ethereum transaction. NEAR Intents and swap apps build their margin into the quote. Exchanges charge trading and withdrawal fees, which hit small amounts hardest. Compare what you will receive, not the headline fee.
Ethereum gas in 2026 is often cents to a dollar or two, but rises when the network is busy. If you receive USDC or USDT, you need some ETH to move them later.
Common mistakes
- Buying a token called "DOGE" or "wDOGE" on Uniswap and expecting it to track DOGE. Old wrapped versions are dead or barely traded, and lookalike tokens exist.
- Sending Binance-Peg DOGE to an Ethereum address. It lives on BNB Chain, not Ethereum.
- Sending DOGE to a THORChain vault by hand without the right memo. Let the app build the transaction.
- Thinking a slow swap has failed. Dogecoin confirmations take time, so 20 to 60 minutes is normal.
- Receiving USDC or USDT on Ethereum with no ETH. You cannot move it until you add ETH for gas.
Before you transfer
- Ask yourself if you need DOGE on Ethereum, or just its value. If it is the value, a swap is simpler and safer than any wrapped token.
- Treat any new "wrapped DOGE" ERC20 with care. Check who holds the DOGE, how to redeem it, and how much trades.
- THORChain fees grow with swap size compared to the pool. Split very large swaps or compare with an exchange.
- Check service status before sending. Swap services sometimes pause deposits after incidents.
- Keep a little ETH in the receiving wallet if you choose USDC or USDT.
- Double-check the network. DOGE tokens on BNB Chain or Solana are not the same as tokens on Ethereum.
Frequently asked questions
Not a trust-minimized one, and no wrapped DOGE on Ethereum with real trading. Today you swap DOGE to ETH with THORChain, NEAR Intents or an exchange.
Use a THORChain app such as Vultisig, THORSwap or ASGARDEX, or a NEAR Intents app. Send DOGE and enter your Ethereum 0x address to receive ETH.
Not one worth using. renDOGE ended with RenVM in 2022, and custodial versions from 2021 never had much trading. Be careful with any token claiming to be DOGE on Ethereum.
No. Binance-Peg DOGE is a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain, backed by DOGE held by Binance. Do not send it to Ethereum.
An app layer for Dogecoin that runs Ethereum-style smart contracts, linked to the MyDoge team. It was on testnet in 2026. It is not a bridge to Ethereum.
There is no confirmed date. Projects like DogeOS and QED are working on putting DOGE into smart contracts with proofs, but none has announced a live, redeemable DOGE token on Ethereum.
Usually 20 to 60 minutes, mostly waiting for Dogecoin confirmations. Exchanges can take longer.
