Optimistic rollup

Base Bridge: how to bridge to and from Base

Base is an optimistic rollup on top of Ethereum. Its official bridge is the most trust-minimised option, but withdrawals back to Ethereum wait for a challenge period of about seven days. Third-party bridges skip the wait by paying you out of their own liquidity.

Quick answer

Services supporting Base: 25. Most used in our guides: Superbridge, LI.FI, Relay, Across. Direct transfers possible to: Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, TRON, Hyperliquid.

Popular services

  • SuperbridgeCanonical bridge

Official Base bridge: the network's own route to and from Ethereum. Slower to withdraw, but no extra parties to trust.

  • LI.FI

LI.FI is an aggregator. It compares many bridges and exchanges and picks the best route for your transfer. Many wallets and apps build it in. Jumper, a website for regular users that started inside LI.FI, runs on it.

  • Relay

Relay moves and swaps coins between networks, usually in seconds. You say what you want, and a solver pays you on the destination network right away from its own funds. The solver settles up with Relay afterwards.

  • Across

Across moves coins between Ethereum, its layer 2 networks and several other chains, usually in seconds. You send funds on one network, and an independent relayer pays you on the other side from its own money. The relayer gets paid back later, so you do not have to wait.

Alternative ways to move funds

The official rollup bridge

The bridge run by Base itself relies only on Ethereum and the rollup. It is the safest option, but withdrawals to Ethereum are slower than with third-party bridges.

Move stablecoins instead

Converting to USDC or USDT and moving it through the issuer’s own transfer protocol often has the widest coverage and the least slippage. Swap back on the destination if you need another asset.

Through a centralised exchange

Deposit on Base, trade if needed, and withdraw on the destination network. Simple and often cheap, but the exchange holds your funds in between and needs identity verification.

Two steps through a well-connected chain

If no single route exists, first move to a chain with many connections (Ethereum, Solana or a major rollup), then on to the destination. It costs two fees, but each step uses a well-tested route.

How transfers work on Base

  • Deposits from Ethereum through the official bridge arrive in minutes.
  • Withdrawals through the official bridge take about a week; fast bridges such as Across or Relay take seconds to minutes for a fee.
  • Most bridges and aggregators connect Base to other rollups directly, without going through Ethereum.

What to watch out for

  • If you use the official bridge to withdraw, you must come back after the challenge period to finalise.
  • Check that the bridge sends the native token, not a bridged copy with a different contract.

Frequently asked questions

How can I bridge from Base?

25 of the projects we review support Base, including Across, Stargate, Wormhole. We have 14 route guides that involve Base.

Which major chains can I reach from Base directly?

Directly: Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, TRON, Hyperliquid. Other destinations need two steps or an exchange.

What if there is no bridge for my Base route?

Use a centralised exchange, take two steps through a well-connected chain such as Ethereum or Solana, or move a stablecoin instead and swap on arrival.
