Synapse
Synapse is a bridge that works mostly between Ethereum-style networks, with a separate Synapse bridge for Solana. It moves coins using pools of money on each network and can also pass messages between apps. The bridge still runs, but the Synapse team now spends much of its effort on other products.

- 1You deposit or swap your coin on the starting network.
- 2A message goes to the destination network. It is accepted unless someone challenges it in time.
- 3You get the coin from the pool on the destination network, or you get a token issued by Synapse, such as nETH or nUSD.
Trust model
Messages are accepted unless challenged within a set time window (a challenge period). So you rely on at least one honest watcher spotting a bad message and raising it.
Strengths
- Has been running for a long time.
- Can carry messages for apps, not only tokens.
Limitations
- Mostly Ethereum-style networks. Solana goes through a separate Synapse bridge app.
- Some routes give you a Synapse token (like nETH or nUSD) instead of the official coin.
