Superbridge

Superbridge is the app that Base and OP Mainnet point users to for their official bridges to Ethereum. It is a front end built by an independent team: the funds still move through each network's own bridge contracts. It can also route you through a fast third-party bridge if you do not want to wait.

How it works

1You pick the networks and the amount. In the default mode, Superbridge sends your deposit to the official bridge contracts of the network you chose.
2Deposits from Ethereum usually arrive within minutes. Withdrawals to Ethereum must wait out a proving period: 7 days on OP Mainnet, several days on Base.
3After the wait you prove and finalize the withdrawal on Ethereum. Superbridge shows each step and reminds you when it is ready.

Trust model

In the default mode you trust the network's own bridge contracts and their proof system, not Superbridge. In fast mode you also trust the third-party bridge it routes through.

Strengths

Official bridge security without having to find each network's own interface.
One app for many OP Stack networks, including OP Mainnet, Base, Unichain and Ink.
An optional fast mode for people who cannot wait days.

Limitations

Official withdrawals to Ethereum take days and need extra transactions on Ethereum, which cost ETH gas.
Superbridge itself is an interface; if it is down you can still use the contracts through other front ends.
