Ethereum to BNB Chain Bridge
BNB Smart Chain is a separate network with its own validators, not an Ethereum layer 2. There is no Ethereum-secured bridge, so every route trusts a bridge or Binance. Fast bridges like Across, Relay and deBridge are the usual choice.

Short answer
An Ethereum to BNB Chain bridge moves coins from Ethereum to BNB Smart Chain, often called BSC. Addresses look the same (0x), so MetaMask or Rabby works on both. For most people the easiest way to send ETH to BNB Chain is a fast bridge such as Across, Relay or deBridge. The coins usually arrive within a minute.
Unlike Base or Arbitrum, BNB Chain is not built on top of Ethereum. It has its own validators, so there is no official bridge protected by Ethereum. BNB Chain's own bridge page is a front end that shows routes from outside providers like Stargate, Celer, deBridge and Mayan. Whatever route you pick, you trust that bridge's design.
Two things trip people up. Fees on BNB Chain are paid in BNB, so you need a little BNB when you arrive. And most big tokens on BSC, such as ETH, USDC and USDT, are "Binance-Peg" versions issued by Binance. Circle does not support USDC on BNB Chain through CCTP, so there is no way to get Circle-issued USDC there.
| Network type | Separate chain, not a layer 2 |
|---|---|
| Ethereum-secured bridge | None |
| Usual time | Under 1 minute (fast bridges) |
| Fees on BNB Chain paid in | BNB |
| Main tokens on BSC | Binance-Peg ETH, USDT, USDC |
| Circle CCTP for USDC | Not available |
| Main cost | Ethereum network fee |
Why this route is difficult
BNB Smart Chain is its own blockchain, secured by a small set of validators that stake BNB. Ethereum has no say over what happens on it. So unlike a layer 2, there is no bridge that Ethereum itself protects. Every route relies on someone else, whether that is a bridge's checkers, a solver, or Binance.
That shapes which tokens you get. Most large tokens on BSC are Binance-Peg tokens. Binance holds the original coins and issues a matching token on BSC. This is why Binance-Peg ETH, USDT and USDC are the versions most BSC apps use. Bridges that deliver these tokens are swapping into them, not creating new ones.
Some bridges create their own wrapped versions instead, such as Wormhole tokens. These work, but they are separate tokens with their own prices. Before sending a large amount, check that the token you will get is the one apps on BSC actually use.
USDC is a special case. Circle does not run CCTP for USDC on BNB Chain, so there is no burn-and-mint route that gives you Circle-issued USDC there. Most people move USDT instead, since it is the most traded stablecoin on BSC.
Possible approaches
1Intent-based bridge
A solver pays you on BSC right away and gets paid back from your Ethereum deposit.
Trade-offFast and can change one token into another, but you rely on the bridge's contracts for a short time.
2Liquidity pool bridge
You add coins to a pool on Ethereum and receive the same kind of coin from a pool on BSC.
Trade-offGood for stablecoins, but prices move with pool balance.
3Exchange as a bridge
Deposit to Binance from Ethereum, then withdraw on BNB Smart Chain.
Trade-offSimple and supports many tokens, but Binance holds your coins in between and may ask for identity checks.
4Lock-and-mint wrapping
Wormhole Portal locks the token on Ethereum and creates a wrapped copy on BSC.
Trade-offWorks for many tokens, but the copy may be hard to sell.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intent-based bridge | ETH, BNB, USDT, USDC on BSC | Seconds to 1 min | Ethereum fee + small markup | Most transfers |
| Liquidity pool bridge (Stargate) | Mainly stablecoins like USDT | A few minutes | Ethereum fee + pool and messaging fee | Larger stablecoin transfers |
| Binance exchange | Binance-Peg tokens or BNB | Minutes, depends on the exchange | Ethereum fee + withdrawal fee | People who already use Binance |
| Wormhole Portal | Wormhole-wrapped token | 15-20 min | Fees on both networks | Tokens nobody else supports |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Across | ETH, USDT, USDC and others | Oracle-checked payback | Usually done in seconds. |
| Relay | ETH, BNB, stablecoins | Solver pays you | Fast for common coins. |
| deBridge | Most BSC tokens | Orders, no pools | Swap and transfer in one step. |
| Stargate | Mainly USDT | LayerZero checkers (DVNs) | Pool-based. One of BNB Chain's listed route providers. |
| Symbiosis | Many BSC tokens | Relayer network | Swaps across chains in one step. |
| Wormhole Portal | Wrapped tokens | 13 of 19 guardians | Widest token support, but wrapped versions. |
| LI.FI | Depends on route | Same as chosen bridge | Compares several bridges for you. |
How to move Ethereum to BNB Chain
These steps use an intent-based bridge (Across, Relay or deBridge, or an aggregator like LI.FI or Bungee that compares them). The same checks apply if you use BNB Chain's own bridge page.
- 1
Get your wallet ready
Use MetaMask, Rabby or another EVM wallet with the coins on Ethereum, plus extra ETH for the network fee. Your address is the same on BNB Chain. Add "BNB Smart Chain" (chain ID 56) to your wallet if it is not there yet.
- 2
Pick the right destination
Choose BNB Smart Chain (BSC) as the destination. opBNB is a different network, a layer 2 on top of BSC. The old BNB Beacon Chain (BEP-2) is shut down, so ignore guides that mention it.
- 3
Choose what you want to receive
Pick the exact token you want on BSC. If you have no BNB yet, receive some BNB, or turn on "gas on destination" if the bridge offers it. Without BNB you cannot move or swap anything on BSC.
- 4
Check the quote and approve
Look at the amount you will receive, since the fee is built into it. Tokens like USDT need a token approval first, a separate transaction with its own fee. Approve only the amount you are sending.
- 5
Confirm and track
Sign the transfer and follow it on Etherscan and in the bridge app. When it is done, the coins show on BscScan under your address. If your wallet does not show a token, add it with the contract address from BscScan.
- 6
If it gets stuck or refunded
If no solver fills your order, fast bridges usually refund you on Ethereum. Do not send again while the first order is open. If nothing happens after the promised time, contact support with your Etherscan link.
Fees and timing
The Ethereum transaction is the biggest cost. A bridge transfer costs more than a simple send, and a token approval adds a second transaction. On a quiet day this is small. On a busy day it can be more than the bridge fee. Fees on BNB Chain itself are very low, usually a fraction of a cent to a few cents in BNB.
The bridge fee comes on top. Fast bridges include it in the quote, so compare the amount you receive. Stargate prices change with how full its pools are. Going through Binance means paying the Ethereum fee to deposit and then Binance's withdrawal fee, but some people find it simpler.
Speed depends on the route. Fast bridges pay you on BSC before your Ethereum transaction is fully final, so they finish in seconds. Pool bridges and Wormhole wait for more Ethereum confirmations, which takes minutes. Exchanges set their own confirmation rules and may hold deposits longer.
Common mistakes
- Arriving on BNB Chain with no BNB for fees.
- Choosing opBNB or an old BEP-2 option instead of BNB Smart Chain.
- Expecting Circle USDC on BSC. USDC there is Binance-Peg, and it uses 18 decimals instead of 6, which can confuse some tools.
- Mixing up Wormhole-wrapped ETH with Binance-Peg ETH. They are different tokens and do not always trade 1:1.
- Sending ERC-20 tokens to a Binance deposit address on the wrong network. Match the network on both sides.
- Using a fake bridge site from an ad. Open bridges from their official links.
Before you transfer
- Plan for BNB on arrival. Receive some BNB or use gas on destination.
- There is no Ethereum-secured bridge to BSC. Every route trusts a bridge or an exchange, so split very large amounts.
- Check which version of a token you will receive. Binance-Peg tokens are the ones most BSC apps use.
- For stablecoins, USDT is usually the easiest to move and use on BSC.
- Make sure the destination is BNB Smart Chain, not opBNB.
- For large amounts, send a small test first.
Frequently asked questions
Use a fast bridge such as Across, Relay or deBridge, or BNB Chain's own bridge page, which lists routes from outside providers. Choose Ethereum to BNB Smart Chain, pick ETH or BNB as what you receive, and confirm. It usually takes under a minute.
Yes. Many bridges swap on the way, so you send ETH on Ethereum and receive BNB on BNB Smart Chain. Relay and deBridge both do this, and aggregators like LI.FI compare the options.
Not one protected by Ethereum. BNB Chain is a separate network, so its bridge page shows routes from providers like Stargate, Celer, deBridge and Mayan. BNB Chain says it does not hold your tokens or run those routes.
It is a token on BNB Smart Chain backed by ETH that Binance holds. It is the most used form of ETH on BSC. It is not the same as Wormhole ETH, which some bridges deliver instead.
No. Circle's CCTP does not support USDC on BNB Chain. You can still move USDC with other bridges, but you get Binance-Peg USDC or another bridged version. Many people send USDT instead.
Most likely you have no BNB. Every transaction on BNB Smart Chain costs a small fee paid in BNB. Get a little BNB through a bridge, an exchange or a friend, and the tokens will move.
They work almost the same way and use the same 0x address format, but they are on different networks. A token sent on Ethereum (ERC-20) does not show up on BSC (BEP-20) unless it goes through a bridge or an exchange.
