Cardano to Ethereum Bridge
There is no trustless Cardano to Ethereum bridge with deep liquidity. Most people swap ADA for ETH or USDC on an exchange or with a swap service. Wanchain and Rosen Bridge offer signer-based bridges, but wrapped ADA on Ethereum is a niche token.

Short answer
If you just want your ADA to become ETH or USDC in an Ethereum wallet, sell it. An exchange where you already have an account is the most predictable way. Deposit ADA, trade it, and withdraw ETH or USDC on the Ethereum network. Swap services and solver networks such as NEAR Intents can do the same without an exchange account, where they list Cardano.
Keeping ADA while using Ethereum is harder. Cardano and Ethereum are built in very different ways, and the large bridge networks used between Ethereum and other chains do not offer a standard route for ADA. What exists relies on groups of signers. Wanchain lists ADA among its bridged assets, and Rosen Bridge, which uses the Ergo blockchain as its hub, lists Ethereum as a delivered bridge on its road map.
For most amounts, a swap is simpler. Choose a wrapped token only if you really need ADA itself on Ethereum, you understand who holds the real ADA, and you have checked that you could sell the token again.
| Trustless bridge | None live |
|---|---|
| Most common way | Exchange: ADA in, ETH out |
| Option without an exchange | Swap services, NEAR Intents if listed |
| Signer-based bridges | Wanchain, Rosen Bridge |
| Cardano block time | About 20 seconds |
| Biggest cost | Spread + Ethereum fees |
| Needed on arrival | A little ETH |
Why this route is difficult
Cardano and Ethereum are built in very different ways. On Cardano, coins sit in separate chunks, and small programs decide whether each chunk can be spent. On Ethereum, contracts read and update shared account balances. A bridge has to handle both styles, and code and token formats do not carry over from one side to the other.
A bridge that needs little trust would let each network check the other directly. That is hard to build and costly to run, especially on Ethereum, where every check costs gas. The usual fallback is a group of signers that watches one chain and acts on the other. Wanchain uses rotating bridge nodes with shared-key cryptography. Rosen uses watchers and a guard group, coordinated on Ergo.
The other gap is liquidity, meaning money available to trade. With no official ADA on Ethereum, any wrapped ADA has to build its own market. Until it does, selling it can cost you a lot in slippage.
So today most value moves through swaps, not a bridge. You give up ADA on Cardano and get a different coin on Ethereum, from an exchange, a swap service or a solver network.
Past attempts
| Project | When | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| Wanchain ADA bridge | Live | Wanchain lists ADA among its bridged assets. Its bridges use lock-mint-burn-unlock, run by bridge nodes that are rotated and re-elected each month. |
| Rosen Bridge on Ethereum | Live | Rosen marks its Ethereum bridge as done on its road map, next to its Cardano bridge. Transfers run through Ergo, watched by watchers and signed by a guard group. |
What is being built
Rosen aggregator integration
PlannedRosen's road map lists integration with bridge aggregators and hubs, which could make its routes easier to find.
Rosen cold wallets and chain kit
In progressRosen lists cold wallet activation and a Chain Integration Kit for adding new chains as work in progress.
NEAR Intents
Live, resumed after a pauseSolver-based swaps from many chains to Ethereum. Deposits and withdrawals were paused for about 12 hours after an exploit on 1 October 2026, and affected users were promised refunds.
What still stands in the way
- Cardano and Ethereum use different ways of tracking coins, so code and tokens do not carry over.
- Checking one chain directly from the other is hard and costly, so bridges rely on groups of signers.
- Wrapped ADA on Ethereum has to build its own market, so selling it can be costly.
- Major cross-chain swap networks like THORChain and Chainflip do not support Cardano, which limits native swap routes.
- Many announcements describe plans, which makes it hard for users to know what is live.
Signs the bridge is close
- Cardano support being added by a large bridge or swap network.
- Rosen routes appearing in bridge aggregators, as its road map plans.
- Trading volume and liquidity for wrapped ADA on Ethereum DEXs.
- A stable record for NEAR Intents after the October 2026 exploit.
- A public bridge between Cardano and Ethereum that checks each chain with proofs, with published audits.
Possible approaches
1Centralized exchange
Deposit ADA to an exchange that supports both networks, sell it, and withdraw ETH or USDC on Ethereum.
Trade-offEasy to trade and familiar, but you need an account and the exchange holds your money until you withdraw.
2Intent-based cross-chain swap
Send real ADA to a deposit address. A solver pays real ETH or stablecoins to your Ethereum address.
Trade-offNo exchange account, but only where Cardano is listed, and the price can be worse for large amounts.
3Instant-swap service
Send ADA to a swap service and receive ETH or another Ethereum coin.
Trade-offOne simple step, but the service holds your money during the swap, and some can freeze funds for compliance checks.
4Signer-based bridge
A group of nodes or guards watches your deposit on Cardano and releases a matching token on Ethereum. Wanchain and Rosen Bridge work this way.
Trade-offYou keep exposure to the bridged asset, but you trust the signer group, and the token may trade very little.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Centralized exchange | ETH, USDC or other Ethereum tokens | 10-30 min | Trading fee + withdrawal fee | People with a verified account |
| Intent-based swap (NEAR Intents) | Real ETH or stablecoins | Minutes, depends on confirmations | Built into the rate | No exchange account, if Cardano is listed |
| Instant-swap service | ETH or Ethereum tokens | 10-40 min | Spread, often wider | Small one-off amounts |
| Signer-based bridge (Wanchain, Rosen) | A wrapped token on Ethereum | Varies | Bridge fee + network fees | Needing a Cardano asset itself on Ethereum |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Centralized exchanges | ETH, USDC | The exchange | The most traded path today. |
| NEAR Intents | ETH, stablecoins, if Cardano is listed in the app | Solver pays, NEAR settles | Paused for about half a day after an exploit on 1 Oct 2026, then resumed. Affected users were promised refunds. |
| Instant-swap services | ETH | The service, during swap | Most need no account. |
| Wanchain | Wrapped tokens on supported routes | Rotating bridge nodes (MPC) | Lists ADA among its bridged assets. Check the networks and token address in its bridge app. |
| Rosen Bridge | Wrapped tokens on supported routes | Guard group, coordinated on Ergo | Lists Cardano and Ethereum among its chains. Check the route and liquidity before bridging. |
How to move Cardano to Ethereum
These steps show the exchange route. Most people use it, and it is the easiest to sort out if something goes wrong. Swap services and NEAR Intents work in a similar way: you send ADA to a deposit address and enter your Ethereum address for the payout.
- 1
Check that the exchange supports both networks
Make sure the exchange accepts ADA deposits on the Cardano network and allows ETH or USDC withdrawals on the Ethereum network. Note the minimum withdrawal and the withdrawal fee on the withdraw screen.
- 2
Copy the ADA deposit address
Cardano addresses start with addr1. Exchanges usually do not ask for a memo for ADA. If one is shown, include it. If this is your first time sending ADA to this exchange, send a small test amount first.
- 3
Send ADA from Eternl, Lace or Yoroi
Paste the address, enter the amount and sign. Leave a little ADA for fees. If your wallet also holds other Cardano tokens, each must keep some ADA attached to it, so the wallet may not let you send all your ADA.
- 4
Track the deposit on Cardanoscan
Search your transaction ID on Cardanoscan. Cardano makes a block about every 20 seconds. The exchange credits you after its required number of confirmations, usually within a few minutes.
- 5
Trade ADA for ETH or USDC
For small amounts, a market order is fine. For bigger amounts, use a limit order so you do not pay extra when few buyers are around.
- 6
Withdraw on the Ethereum network
Paste your MetaMask, Rabby or other Ethereum address. It starts with 0x. Choose Ethereum as the network, not a layer 2 or BNB Chain, unless that is what you want. If you withdraw USDC, make sure you also have a little ETH for fees.
- 7
Check it on Etherscan
Look up the withdrawal ID or your address on Etherscan. If a withdrawal stays pending for a long time, contact exchange support with the withdrawal ID. Do not submit it again.
Fees and timing
Sending ADA costs very little, usually a fraction of an ADA. The real costs are elsewhere: the exchange trading fee (or the spread in a swap quote), and the fee the exchange charges to withdraw on Ethereum. Ethereum withdrawal fees are often higher than on cheaper networks.
Swap services and NEAR Intents usually do not show a separate fee. The cost is hidden in the rate. So compare how much ETH you actually get with the current market price. The gap tends to grow for larger amounts and when prices swing.
Signer-based bridges charge a bridge fee and network fees on both sides, and the Ethereum side can cost more than the Cardano side. If you then want to sell the wrapped token on Ethereum, add the trading cost, which can be high when few people trade it.
Common mistakes
- Buying an Ethereum token called "ADA" or "Cardano" without checking its contract address and who issued it.
- Forgetting that other Cardano tokens in your wallet keep some ADA locked with them, so you can send less than you expected.
- Picking the wrong network when withdrawing, for example USDC on another network instead of Ethereum. Or pasting a Cardano address where a 0x address is needed.
- Withdrawing only USDC to a new Ethereum wallet with no ETH. You then cannot pay the fee to move it.
- Bridging ADA to Ethereum as a wrapped token without checking whether anyone trades it there.
- Comparing swap quotes by rate only, and ignoring withdrawal fees and minimums.
Before you transfer
- There is no trustless bridge. Every option today is a swap or a token backed by a group of signers.
- Decide first: do you want ETH or USDC, or ADA itself on Ethereum? That decides the route.
- Compare what you receive after all fees, not just the quoted rate.
- Ethereum fees are higher than on most networks. For small amounts, a cheaper network may make more sense.
- Keep a little ETH on the Ethereum side for fees.
- Check any wrapped ADA token address through the bridge's official channels.
- Check service status pages before sending, as swap services sometimes pause after incidents.
Frequently asked questions
Not a trustless one. Wanchain and Rosen Bridge offer signer-based bridges, where a group of nodes or guards backs the tokens. Most people swap ADA for ETH on an exchange or with a swap service instead.
The simplest way: deposit ADA on an exchange, sell it for ETH, and withdraw on the Ethereum network. Without an exchange account, use a swap service, or NEAR Intents if it lists Cardano.
Only as a wrapped token backed by ADA held somewhere else. Check who holds the real ADA, the token address, and how much it trades before buying.
No. MetaMask cannot hold real ADA, and a Cardano transaction cannot go to a 0x address. Convert ADA through an exchange or a swap first, then send the Ethereum coin to MetaMask.
Usually 10 to 30 minutes on an exchange. Cardano makes a block about every 20 seconds, so most of the wait is confirmations and the withdrawal on Ethereum.
An open-source bridge that uses the Ergo blockchain as its hub. Watchers report events on each chain, and a guard group signs the transfers. Its road map lists Cardano, Ethereum and other chains.
No. Midnight is a privacy-focused partner chain of Cardano. It is not a bridge between Cardano and Ethereum.
