Cross-chain DEX
Chainflip
Chainflip lets you swap real coins across networks, for example real BTC for real SOL or ETH. You send coins to an address and receive the other coin in your wallet. No wrapped tokens are involved.
Official websiteHow it works
- 1You send your coins to a deposit address. That address belongs to a Chainflip vault on the network you are sending from.
- 2Chainflip sets the price on its own blockchain, the State Chain. Market makers compete at the last moment to fill your order.
- 3You are paid from the Chainflip vault on the destination network. The vaults are controlled jointly by Chainflip’s validators using threshold signatures. The reported rule is that 100 of 150 validators must agree to move funds.
Trust model
You are trusting Chainflip’s validators. The money in the vaults is safe as long as fewer than the required number of validators (reported as 100 of 150) team up or get hacked.
Strengths
- Swaps real Bitcoin to Solana or Ethereum without wrapped tokens.
- Works with any wallet, because all you do is send coins to an address.
Limitations
- Supports only a few networks and coins.
- Bitcoin deposits must wait for block confirmations, so swaps that start from BTC take tens of minutes.
