Ethereum to Mantle Bridge
Mantle is an Ethereum layer 2 that pays its fees in MNT, not ETH. The official Mantle bridge moves ETH, MNT and listed tokens in about 2 minutes. Withdrawals back take up to 12 hours. Relay, Stargate and USDT0 are the main alternatives.

Short answer
Mantle is a layer 2 network on top of Ethereum. Your wallet address is the same on both, and the official Mantle bridge connects them directly. Mantle says it now runs as a ZK validity rollup using OP Succinct, which replaced its earlier optimistic design in 2025.
One thing sets Mantle apart from most other layer 2 networks. Fees are paid in MNT, Mantle's own token, not in ETH. ETH you bridge over arrives as a normal token. If you hold no MNT on Mantle, you cannot send any transaction there.
This page compares the official bridge with the fast options, explains the gas question, and walks through a deposit with the official Mantle bridge.
| Network type | Layer 2 on Ethereum, ZK validity proofs (OP Succinct) |
|---|---|
| Official route | Mantle Bridge (app.mantle.xyz) |
| Deposit time | About 2 min (official) |
| Withdrawal time | Up to 12 hours + claim (official) |
| Fees on Mantle paid in | MNT |
| USDT on Mantle | USDT0 (LayerZero OFT) |
Why this route is difficult
Mantle is a separate network that settles on Ethereum. The official bridge locks your tokens in a contract on Ethereum and releases the matching tokens on Mantle. Going in is quick because Ethereum is the source of truth.
Going out is slower. A withdrawal from Mantle has to be checked against what Mantle has posted to Ethereum before the bridge releases funds. Mantle moved to ZK validity proofs with OP Succinct in 2025, and its official numbers since then are 1-hour finality and withdrawals of up to 12 hours.
Fast bridges skip this wait by fronting the money. A solver or liquidity pool pays you on the other chain from its own balance. For USDT, Mantle uses USDT0, which moves through LayerZero: USDT is locked on Ethereum and USDT0 is minted on Mantle.
Possible approaches
1Official Mantle bridge
Lock tokens on Ethereum and receive the same tokens on Mantle, using the Mantle bridge contracts.
Trade-offRelies only on Ethereum and Mantle's own contracts, but withdrawals take hours and need a claim.
2Intent-based bridge
You send funds on Ethereum, and a solver pays you on Mantle right away.
Trade-offSeconds and can deliver MNT for gas, but you rely on the bridge's own system.
3LayerZero token routes
Stargate pools or the USDT0 OFT move listed assets such as USDT and mETH.
Trade-offGood for stablecoins and mETH, but limited to the assets these routes support.
4Exchange deposit and withdrawal
Deposit on Ethereum to an exchange account and withdraw on Mantle.
Trade-offSimple if you already have an account, but the exchange holds your coins in between.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mantle Bridge (deposit) | ETH, MNT or listed tokens on Mantle | About 2 min | Ethereum fee only | Large deposits, official route |
| Mantle Bridge (withdrawal) | ETH, MNT or tokens on Ethereum | Up to 12 hours, then a claim | Mantle fee in MNT + Ethereum claim fee | No rush, official route |
| Intent-based bridge (Relay) | ETH, MNT, USDC and other common tokens | Usually seconds | Network fee + small bridge fee | Speed, and getting MNT for gas |
| LayerZero routes (Stargate, USDT0) | USDT or USDT0, mETH and other listed assets | Usually minutes | Network fee + messaging or pool fee | USDT and mETH |
| Via an exchange | Coins the exchange lists on Mantle | Depends on the exchange | Exchange withdrawal fee, if any | People who already use the exchange |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mantle Bridge | ETH, MNT or listed tokens | Ethereum (bridge contracts) | Deposits in about 2 minutes. Withdrawals up to 12 hours plus a claim. |
| Relay | ETH, MNT and others | Solver pays you | Fast for common coins. Lists Mantle as a supported chain. |
| Stargate | USDT, mETH | LayerZero checkers (DVNs) | Pool-based. Has USDT and mETH pools on Ethereum and Mantle. |
| USDT0 | USDT0 | LayerZero checkers (DVNs) | USDT is locked on Ethereum and USDT0 is minted on Mantle. |
| Via an exchange | Coins the exchange lists on Mantle | The exchange | Check that withdrawals to Mantle are open for your coin. |
How to move Ethereum to Mantle
These steps show an ETH deposit through the official Mantle bridge at app.mantle.xyz. The same wallet and network checks apply if you use a fast bridge instead.
- 1
Get your wallet ready
Use MetaMask, Rabby or another EVM wallet. On Ethereum you need the ETH you want to move plus enough ETH for the Ethereum network fee.
- 2
Plan for MNT
You will need MNT on Mantle to do anything there. Either bridge some MNT along with your ETH, or use a fast bridge that can deliver MNT directly.
- 3
Open the bridge from a trusted link
Type app.mantle.xyz yourself or use a bookmark. Fake bridge sites are often promoted through search ads. Connect your wallet.
- 4
Choose Ethereum to Mantle, the token and the amount
Pick ETH or another listed token. Tokens other than ETH need an approval transaction first, which costs an extra Ethereum fee.
- 5
Confirm the deposit
Sign the transaction on Ethereum. Mantle's FAQ says a deposit usually completes in about 2 minutes.
- 6
Check that it arrived
Look at the History tab in the bridge or search your address on the Mantle explorer. If the token does not show in your wallet, import it with the address listed in the Mantle docs.
Fees and timing
The main cost of a deposit is the Ethereum transaction. The Mantle bridge does not add a fee of its own on top. Depositing a token costs more than depositing ETH, because the token needs an approval first.
Once you are on Mantle, every transaction is paid in MNT. Fees there are normally low, but you need at least a little MNT. Bridging a small amount of MNT, or receiving MNT from a fast bridge, solves this.
Plan the way back. An official withdrawal needs MNT for the start on Mantle and ETH for the claim on Ethereum, and it can take up to 12 hours. Fast bridges such as Relay charge a fee but pay you on Ethereum much sooner.
Common mistakes
- Bridging only ETH and then finding you cannot move it, because Mantle fees are paid in MNT.
- Using a bridge site found through an ad instead of app.mantle.xyz or the real address of a known bridge.
- Expecting native USDC from Circle on Mantle. Circle CCTP does not list Mantle, so check which USDC version a route gives you.
- Mixing up USDT0 and the older bridged USDT on Mantle. The Mantle bridge now labels the old one as USDT (BRIDGED).
- Starting an official withdrawal and forgetting the claim on Ethereum, which needs ETH for gas.
- Sending to an exchange deposit address without checking that the exchange accepts that coin on Mantle.
Before you transfer
- Get some MNT first, or in the same trip. Without it you cannot use anything on Mantle.
- For large deposits with no rush, the official Mantle bridge is the direct route.
- For USDT, the Mantle bridge gives you USDT0, the default USDT on Mantle. With other routes, check which USDT the quote delivers.
- For the trip back, compare the 12-hour official wait with a fast bridge fee.
- Your Ethereum address is also your Mantle address, so no new wallet is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Mantle's bridge FAQ says a deposit usually completes in about 2 minutes. Fast bridges like Relay usually finish in seconds.
Through the official bridge, up to 12 hours according to Mantle, and then you claim the funds on Ethereum. A fast bridge pays you on Ethereum much sooner for a fee.
Yes. Fees on Mantle are paid in MNT. ETH on Mantle is a regular token and cannot pay for gas. Bridge some MNT or use a route that delivers MNT.
Mantle says it completed its move to ZK validity proofs with OP Succinct in September 2025. Before that it was an optimistic rollup.
No. Circle's list of CCTP chains does not include Mantle. USDC on Mantle comes through bridges, so check the token you will receive.
USDT0 is a version of USDT that moves between chains through LayerZero. Mantle's bridge treats it as the default USDT. Older USDT bridged through the Mantle bridge is labeled USDT (BRIDGED).
Yes. MNT exists as a token on Ethereum, and the official Mantle bridge can move it to Mantle, where it becomes the gas token.
