Base to BNB Chain bridge
Base and BNB Smart Chain are both EVM networks, so one wallet and one address work on each. To move funds from Base to BSC, people use pool bridges like Stargate, cross-chain swaps like deBridge, Relay and Symbiosis, or an exchange. Circle CCTP does not cover BSC, so your Circle USDC from Base turns into a Binance-Peg token on arrival. Gas is ETH on Base and BNB on BNB Chain.

Short answer
A Base to BNB Chain bridge takes tokens from your wallet on Base and pays you tokens on BNB Smart Chain. Because both are EVM chains, MetaMask, Rabby or any other EVM wallet uses the same 0x address on each, and there is no new address to copy. The thing most people forget is gas: you pay in ETH on Base, but you need BNB on BSC before you can do anything with what arrives.
USDC on Base is issued by Circle and has 6 decimals. On BNB Chain, USDC and USDT are Binance-Peg tokens with 18 decimals. Circle CCTP does not support BNB Smart Chain, so there is no burn-and-mint path here: a bridge, swap service or exchange takes your Base token and pays you the BSC token from its own funds. Leaving Base this way is quick. The long wait of the native Base bridge only applies to withdrawals to Ethereum.
| Circle CCTP for USDC | Not available on BNB Smart Chain |
|---|---|
| USDC on Base | Issued by Circle, 6 decimals |
| Stablecoins arriving on BSC | Binance-Peg, 18 decimals |
| Gas | ETH on Base, BNB on BNB Chain |
| Native withdrawal wait | Only for withdrawals to Ethereum |
Why this route is difficult
Base is a layer 2 built on the OP Stack that settles on Ethereum. BNB Smart Chain runs as its own chain with its own validators. Neither can confirm what happened on the other, so a bridge's verifiers, a solver, a relayer or an exchange has to stand in between.
On top of that, the stablecoins come from different issuers on each side. Circle USDC on Base cannot move to BSC through CCTP, because Circle does not support BNB Smart Chain. What you get on BSC is Binance-Peg USDC or USDT, paid out of a bridge's own liquidity.
Possible approaches
1Liquidity pool bridge
You add a stablecoin to a pool on Base, and a pool on BNB Chain sends you a stablecoin.
Trade-offSimple for stablecoins. Larger transfers can cost more when one side of the pool runs low.
2Cross-chain swap
A solver or relayer takes your token on Base and pays you the same or a different token on BNB Chain.
Trade-offHandles ETH to BNB in one go. The fee is part of the quote, so compare a few services.
3Exchange as a bridge
Deposit from Base, trade if needed, then withdraw on BNB Smart Chain.
Trade-offEasy with an existing account, but the exchange holds your funds in between and may ask for identity checks.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Liquidity pool bridge (Stargate) | Stablecoins on BSC, depending on pools | Minutes | ETH gas plus a pool and messaging fee | Sending stablecoins |
| Cross-chain swap (deBridge, Relay, Symbiosis) | BNB, USDT, USDC and other BSC tokens | Seconds to minutes | Fee and spread built into the quote | Going from ETH or USDC to BNB in one step |
| Centralized exchange | Tokens the exchange supports on BEP20 | Depends on the exchange | Withdrawal fee, plus a trading fee if you convert | People who already hold an exchange account |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stargate | Stablecoins, depending on pools | LayerZero verifiers (DVNs) | Has stablecoin pools on BNB Chain. Check which token it pays on BSC. |
| deBridge | BNB, USDT, USDC and more | Orders filled by solvers | Swap and transfer in one step, such as ETH to BNB. |
| Relay | BNB, USDT and other tokens | Relayers | Quick swaps between EVM chains, including Base. |
| Symbiosis | Many BSC tokens | Relayer network | Cross-chain swaps from Base to BNB Chain. |
| LI.FI | Depends on route | Same as chosen bridge | Shows quotes from several bridges side by side. |
| Centralized exchanges | Tokens the exchange lists on BEP20 | Exchange holds funds | Deposit on Base and pick BEP20 when withdrawing. |
How to move Base to BNB Chain
These steps use a cross-chain swap through an aggregator such as LI.FI, or directly through deBridge or Relay. The same checks apply if you choose Stargate or an exchange.
- 1
Check your ETH on Base
You need a little ETH on Base to pay for the approval and the transfer. Your address on BNB Chain is the same one, so you can send to yourself.
- 2
Set the route
Open the bridge from a bookmark, not from an ad or a direct message. Choose Base as the source and BNB Chain as the destination, then pick the token you want to receive.
- 3
Plan for BNB
If your wallet has no BNB on BSC, receive BNB or take a small part of the transfer as BNB. Look at the final amount in the quote, not only the fee.
- 4
Send and confirm
Approve the token if asked, then sign the transfer. Check your address on BscScan when it completes. If the token does not appear in your wallet, import it with the contract address shown on BscScan.
Fees and timing
Fees on Base are paid in ETH and are usually low, so the approval and transfer cost little.
The bridge fee or swap spread is the main cost. Stargate fees depend on how balanced its pools are, and swap services include their fee in the quote. Compare the amount you receive on BNB Chain, not the fee alone.
You need BNB on BNB Chain to move, swap or send anything after arrival. Receiving only USDT or USDC leaves you stuck until you add BNB.
Common mistakes
- Bridging only stablecoins and arriving on BNB Chain with no BNB for gas.
- Choosing Base as the withdrawal network at an exchange when you wanted BSC. For BNB Chain, pick BNB Smart Chain (BEP20).
- Assuming USDC on BSC is the same token as Circle USDC on Base. It is a Binance-Peg token with 18 decimals and a different contract.
Before you transfer
- Make sure you will have some BNB on BNB Chain, either already there or as part of the transfer.
- Choose the BSC token you actually need. Some routes pay USDT, others USDC or BNB.
- Keep the 18 decimals of BSC stablecoins in mind if you work with contracts or scripts.
Frequently asked questions
No. Circle does not support BNB Smart Chain in CCTP. Use a pool bridge, a cross-chain swap or an exchange, which pays you Binance-Peg USDC or USDT on BSC.
No. USDC on Base is issued by Circle and has 6 decimals. USDC on BNB Chain is a Binance-Peg token with 18 decimals. A bridge or swap takes one and pays you the other.
Yes. Cross-chain swap services such as deBridge, Relay and Symbiosis take ETH on Base and pay BNB on BNB Chain. Aggregators like LI.FI compare their quotes.
Yes. Every transaction on BNB Chain pays gas in BNB. If you receive only stablecoins, get some BNB first or take part of the transfer as BNB.
