Short answer
Polygon PoS and BNB Chain are both EVM compatible, so your wallet address is the same on both. They are still separate blockchains, and you need a bridge to move funds.
Gas on Polygon is paid in POL, and on BNB Chain in BNB. Without BNB you cannot do anything with the tokens you receive.
USDT and USDC on BNB Chain are usually Binance-Peg tokens with 18 decimals, not 6 as on Polygon. Wallets handle this, but it is easy to make a mistake when entering amounts into a contract by hand.
| Direct official bridge | No |
|---|---|
| Circle CCTP | Does not support BNB Chain |
| Typical time | Seconds to a few minutes |
| Gas on BNB Chain | BNB |
Why this route is difficult
Polygon PoS and BNB Chain are separate blockchains with their own validators. There is no official bridge between them.
The official Polygon bridge only goes to Ethereum. Going through Ethereum works but costs more and takes longer than a direct third-party bridge.
Possible approaches
1Solvers
A third party pays you on BNB Chain right away and later receives your funds on Polygon.
Trade-offVery fast, but not available for every token and amount.
2Liquidity pools
You deposit a token into a pool on Polygon and receive it from a pool on BNB Chain.
Trade-offWorks for large amounts, the rate depends on pool balance.
3Swap and bridge
The bridge swaps the token into the one you need on BNB Chain in the same step.
Trade-offConvenient, but adds swap fees and slippage.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Across or Relay | USDC, USDT, ETH and other popular tokens | Usually seconds | Fee included in the quote | Fast transfers of popular tokens |
| Stargate or deBridge | USDT, USDC and many other tokens | Seconds to minutes | Bridge fee plus gas | Large stablecoin amounts |
| Gas.zip | A little BNB for gas | Seconds | Small fee | Topping up gas on BNB Chain |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Across | USDC, USDT, ETH | Relayers pay, checked via UMA | Fast for popular tokens. |
| Relay | USDC, USDT and others | Solver pays | Fast for popular tokens. |
| Stargate | USDT, USDC | LayerZero verifiers (DVN) | Pool based, price depends on pool balance. |
| deBridge | Many tokens | deBridge validator network | Can deliver the token you need on BNB Chain directly. |
| LI.FI | Depends on route | Same as the chosen bridge | Aggregator that compares several bridges. |
| Gas.zip | BNB for gas | Gas.zip operator | Only for topping up gas. |
How to move Polygon to BNB Chain
Bridging USDT or USDC
- 1
Check gas
Keep some POL on Polygon. Decide how you will get BNB on BNB Chain: through a bridge that delivers gas or through Gas.zip.
- 2
- 3
Compare the quote
Check which token and how much you will receive on BNB Chain. Compare the final amount, not just the fee.
- 4
Confirm and check the balance
Sign the transaction on Polygon. When it completes, switch your wallet to BNB Chain and check the balance.
Fees and timing
Gas on Polygon is usually very cheap and paid in POL. The main difference between options is the bridge fee and the rate.
Gas on BNB Chain is also cheap, but you cannot send a transaction without BNB.
Common mistakes
- Choosing opBNB or BNB Beacon Chain instead of BNB Chain (BSC).
- Confusing Polygon PoS with Polygon zkEVM.
- Looking for a CCTP route. Circle CCTP does not work with BNB Chain.
- Arriving with no BNB for the next transaction.
Before you transfer
- Send a small amount first if you are using the route for the first time.
- Make sure the destination is BNB Chain (BSC).
- Open bridges only from their official addresses.
Frequently asked questions
No. The official Polygon bridge only goes to Ethereum. Between Polygon and BNB Chain people use third-party bridges.
No, Circle CCTP does not support BNB Chain. USDC moves through liquidity bridges or solvers.
Pick a bridge that delivers gas, use Gas.zip, or swap part of the received tokens for BNB.
