Base to Avalanche Bridge
Base and Avalanche C-Chain share no official bridge. Fast and liquidity bridges such as Stargate, Relay, deBridge and Synapse move funds between them. Native USDC is best moved with Circle CCTP. You need a little AVAX to transact on Avalanche.

Short answer
Base and Avalanche C-Chain are both EVM compatible, so your wallet address is the same on both. They are still separate blockchains: a normal send on Base does not reach Avalanche. You need a bridge.
Gas on Base is paid in ETH and on Avalanche in AVAX. Besides the tokens themselves, plan for a small amount of AVAX on the destination chain.
Base is built by Coinbase on the OP Stack. USDC on Base is issued by Circle itself, so it moves through CCTP without wrapped versions.

Why this route is difficult
Base is an Ethereum rollup, while Avalanche is a separate layer 1 with its own consensus. There is no official bridge between them.
The official Avalanche Bridge links the C-Chain with Ethereum and Bitcoin, not with Base. In practice people use third-party bridges, or CCTP for USDC.
Possible approaches
1Liquidity or intent bridge
You deposit tokens on Base and the bridge pays you on Avalanche from its pools or relayer funds.
Trade-offFast and works for many tokens, but you trust the bridge's contracts and verifiers.
2Circle CCTP
Native USDC is burned on Base, Circle attests it, and the same amount is minted on Avalanche.
Trade-offNative USDC with no wrapped versions, but USDC only and dependent on Circle.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stargate, Relay or deBridge | USDC, USDT, ETH (as WETH.e) and other tokens | Seconds to minutes | Fee included in the quote | Most transfers |
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC on Avalanche | Seconds to about 20 minutes, depending on mode | Small fee in fast mode, plus gas | Moving USDC |
| Aggregator (LI.FI, Bungee) | Depends on the chosen route | Same as the chosen bridge | Bridge fee plus a possible aggregator fee | Comparing several bridges at once |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stargate | USDC, USDT, ETH | LayerZero verifiers (DVNs) | Pool based; price depends on pool balance. |
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC | Circle attestation | USDC only. |
| Relay | ETH, USDC and others | Solver pays out | Fast for popular tokens. |
| deBridge | Many tokens | deBridge validator network | Can deliver the exact token you want on Avalanche. |
| Synapse | USDC, USDT, ETH | Synapse verifiers | Liquidity bridge for popular tokens. |
| LI.FI | Depends on route | Same as the chosen bridge | Aggregator that compares several bridges. |
How to move Base to Avalanche
Bridging USDC or ETH
- 1
Check gas
Keep a little ETH on Base for the fee. Decide how you will get AVAX on Avalanche: some bridges can deliver a small amount of gas with the transfer.
- 2
- 3
Compare the quote
Check which token and how much you will receive. ETH on Avalanche usually arrives as wrapped WETH.e, not as a native coin.
- 4
Confirm and check the balance
Sign the transaction on Base. When it completes, add Avalanche C-Chain to your wallet and check the balance.
Fees and timing
Gas on Base is usually small and paid in ETH. The main difference between options is the bridge's own fee and rate.
Pool-based bridges price by pool balance, so a large transfer can get a worse rate. Compare the amount received, not just the fee.
Common mistakes
- Expecting native ETH on Avalanche. ETH exists there only as a wrapped token; the native coin is AVAX.
- Bridging only USDC and having no AVAX for the next transaction.
- Choosing Avalanche X-Chain or P-Chain instead of C-Chain. EVM tokens work only on the C-Chain.
Before you transfer
- Send a small amount first if you are using the route for the first time.
- Check exactly which token arrives: native USDC or a wrapped version.
- Open bridges only via their official addresses; fake sites often appear in search ads.
Frequently asked questions
No. The official Avalanche Bridge works only with Ethereum and Bitcoin. Between Base and Avalanche, people use third-party bridges, or CCTP for USDC.
Pick a Circle CCTP route in a bridge app or aggregator. Native USDC is burned on Base and minted on Avalanche.
AVAX. If you have none, use a bridge with gas delivery or swap part of the received tokens to AVAX.
