Base to Polygon Bridge
There is no official bridge between Base and Polygon PoS. Transfers go through fast bridges like Across, Relay, Stargate and deBridge, and native USDC through Circle CCTP. Gas on Polygon is paid in POL, and ETH arrives as wrapped WETH.

Short answer
Base and Polygon PoS are both EVM compatible and your wallet address is the same on both. They are still different networks: a normal send on Base will not reach Polygon. You need a bridge.
The official withdrawal from Base goes only to Ethereum and takes about 7 days. Fast bridges move funds directly to Polygon in seconds or minutes.
Base is built by Coinbase on the OP Stack. USDC on Base is issued by Circle itself, so it moves through CCTP without wrapped versions.
| Direct official bridge | None |
|---|---|
| Native USDC | Via Circle CCTP |
| Typical time | Seconds to a few minutes |
| Gas on Polygon | POL |
Why this route is difficult
Base is an Ethereum rollup, while Polygon PoS is a separate network with its own validators. They have no shared official bridge.
The official bridges of both networks lead to Ethereum, so direct transfers use third-party bridges, or CCTP for USDC.
Possible approaches
1Intent bridge
You deposit tokens on Base and a relayer pays you on Polygon right away.
Trade-offVery fast, but you trust the bridge's contracts and verification.
2Circle CCTP
Native USDC is burned on Base and minted on Polygon after Circle's attestation.
Trade-offNative USDC with no wrapped versions, but USDC only and dependent on Circle.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Across or Relay | ETH (as WETH), USDC, USDT and others | Usually under a minute | Fee included in the quote | Fast transfers of popular tokens |
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC on Polygon | Seconds to about 20 minutes depending on mode | Gas and a possible fast-mode fee | Moving USDC |
| Gas.zip | A little POL for gas | Seconds | Small fee | Getting gas on Polygon |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Across | WETH, USDC, USDT | UMA optimistic verification | Fast relayer payouts. |
| Relay | WETH, USDC, POL and others | Solver pays out | Can deliver POL for gas directly. |
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC | Circle attestation | USDC only. |
| Stargate | USDC, USDT, WETH | LayerZero verifiers (DVNs) | Pool based. |
| deBridge | Many tokens | deBridge validator network | Can deliver the token you want directly. |
| Gas.zip | POL | Gas.zip service | For topping up gas only. |
How to move Base to Polygon
Bridging ETH or USDC with a fast bridge
- 1
Plan gas on Polygon
Polygon transactions need POL. Pick a bridge with gas delivery, or get a little POL separately through Gas.zip.
- 2
- 3
Check the token
ETH is not the native coin on Polygon and arrives as WETH. If you need USDC, choose native USDC, not USDC.e.
- 4
Confirm and check the balance
Sign the transaction on Base. When it completes, switch your wallet to Polygon and check the balance.
Fees and timing
Network fees on Base and Polygon are usually small and paid in ETH and POL. The main difference between options is the bridge fee and rate.
The official route via Ethereum needs two bridges, about a 7-day wait and Ethereum fees.
Common mistakes
- Expecting native ETH on Polygon. ETH exists there only as wrapped WETH.
- Choosing Polygon zkEVM instead of Polygon PoS.
- Bridging only tokens and having no POL for gas.
Before you transfer
- Send a small amount first if you are using the route for the first time.
- Get a little POL on Polygon in advance.
- Open bridges only via their official addresses.
Frequently asked questions
No. The official Base withdrawal leads to Ethereum and takes about 7 days. Direct transfers use third-party bridges, or CCTP for USDC.
The native coin on Polygon is POL, and ETH exists as the wrapped WETH token. This is normal and it works in Polygon apps.
