Polygon to Solana bridge

There is no official bridge between Polygon and Solana. Most people use a fast bridge such as Mayan, Relay or deBridge, which swaps POL or USDC on Polygon PoS into SOL, USDC or another Solana token. Circle CCTP moves real USDC, but only native USDC, not the older USDC.e.

Short answer

A Polygon to Solana takes coins from your 0x wallet on Polygon PoS and delivers them to a Solana address in a wallet such as Phantom or Solflare. The two networks use different address formats, wallets and token standards, so a bridge or swap service has to carry the value across.

The Polygon Portal only connects Polygon with Ethereum. For Solana, the usual choice is a fast bridge like Mayan, Relay or deBridge, or an such as LI.FI that compares them. For USDC, Circle CCTP burns native USDC on Polygon and mints real USDC on Solana.

Why this route is difficult

Polygon PoS works like Ethereum, with 0x addresses and ERC-20 tokens. Solana has its own address format, wallets and token standard. POL does not exist on Solana by itself, so you either swap it into a Solana token or receive a wrapped copy created by a bridge.

For USDC, Circle issues the coin on both networks. CCTP burns native USDC on Polygon and mints the same amount on Solana, so you do not depend on a pool or a .

Possible approaches

1Intent-based swap

A sends you SOL, USDC or another token on Solana and is repaid from your deposit on Polygon.

Trade-offFast and can change one token into another. The price depends on how many solvers compete.

2Issuer burn-and-mint

Circle CCTP burns native USDC on Polygon and mints real USDC on Solana.

Trade-offReal USDC with no pool limits, but only for native USDC.

3Lock-and-mint wrapped token

Wormhole Portal locks your token on Polygon and mints a wrapped version of it on Solana.

Trade-offWorks for many tokens, but the wrapped token depends on the bridge behind it and may be hard to trade.

How to move Polygon to Solana

These steps use an bridge such as Mayan, Relay or deBridge, or an aggregator like LI.FI. A USDC transfer through an app built on Circle CCTP works in a similar way: you sign on Polygon and receive USDC on Solana.

  1. 1

    Get both wallets ready

You need an wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby with your coins on Polygon PoS, plus a little POL for the fee. You also need a Solana address from a wallet such as Phantom or Solflare.

  2. 2

    Choose the route and token

Open the bridge, pick Polygon as the source and Solana as the destination, and choose what you want to receive. If your Solana wallet has no SOL, receive SOL or turn on a gas on destination option if the bridge offers it.

  3. 3

Check the address and the quote

A Solana address does not start with 0x. If the recipient field shows a 0x address, fix it before you sign. Compare quotes by the amount you will receive, because the fee is built into the price.

  4. 4

    Sign and follow the transfer

Approve the token if your wallet asks, then confirm the bridge transaction and pay the fee in POL. Follow the order in the bridge app and on Polygonscan, then check your Solana wallet or Solscan. Do not send a second time while the first order is still open.

Fees and timing

Fees on Polygon PoS are paid in POL and are usually small. Solana fees are paid in SOL and are a fraction of a cent.

The main cost is the bridge fee or the markup in the price. Fast bridges build it into the quote, so compare the amount you receive. CCTP has no pool or markup of its own, but apps that use it may add a fee.

If you hold the older bridged USDC.e, a CCTP route will not take it directly. Swapping it to native USDC first adds a small cost.

Common mistakes

  • Arriving on Solana with USDC or another token but no SOL, so you cannot move or swap it.
  • Pasting a 0x address as the recipient. Solana needs its own address format.
  • Sending USDC.e when the route expects native USDC. Check which USDC you hold on Polygon before you start.

Before you transfer

  • Plan for SOL on Solana. Receive SOL, use gas on destination, or hold some SOL there already.
  • Check whether you hold native USDC or USDC.e on Polygon. That decides whether CCTP is an option.
  • For large amounts, send a small test first, and keep a little POL on Polygon for fees.

Frequently asked questions

No. The Polygon Portal connects Polygon with Ethereum. For Solana, people use independent bridges such as Mayan, Relay, deBridge or Wormhole Portal, or apps built on Circle CCTP.

Use an app that supports Circle CCTP, or a fast bridge. CCTP burns native USDC on Polygon and mints real USDC issued by Circle on Solana. If you hold USDC.e, swap it to native USDC first or check whether your bridge accepts it.

Yes. A fast bridge such as Mayan, Relay or deBridge can take POL on Polygon and pay you SOL on Solana in one step.

Yes. Fees on Solana are paid in SOL. If you arrive with only USDC, you cannot move it until you have some SOL, so receive a little SOL or use a gas on destination option.
