Solana to Bitcoin Bridge
You can get real BTC from Solana in one swap, but no option works without trusting someone. Swap SOL or USDC for native BTC, or redeem a BTC token like cbBTC or zBTC through its issuer.

Short answer
Solana and Bitcoin cannot check each other. So the BTC you receive always comes from someone who already holds it on Bitcoin. That is a swap service with its own BTC, a solver, or the issuer of a BTC token on Solana.
If you hold SOL or USDC, a direct swap is the easy way. Chainflip, NEAR Intents and Garden take tokens from your Solana wallet and send native BTC to your Bitcoin address. THORChain also supports Solana in 2026, but only SOL, and its Solana pool is newer than its Ethereum pools. Compare quotes, because depth differs a lot between services.
If you hold BTC tokens on Solana, the rules depend on the token. cbBTC turns back into BTC when you send it to a Coinbase account. Zeus Network says zBTC can be withdrawn to a Bitcoin address through its APOLLO app. For other wrapped BTC, or if you have no Coinbase account, swapping is usually simpler.
| Trustless option | No |
|---|---|
| Direct swap services | Chainflip, NEAR Intents, Garden, THORChain |
| THORChain on Solana | Live in 2026, SOL only |
| Who can redeem cbBTC | Coinbase account holders |
| zBTC withdrawal | Through Zeus APOLLO |
| What you pay | Small SOL fee + swap fee + Bitcoin payout |
| Need SOL to start | Yes, a little for fees |
Why this route is difficult
Solana makes blocks in well under a second. Bitcoin makes one about every 10 minutes. Neither network can verify the other, so a Solana to Bitcoin transfer needs someone who already holds BTC and is willing to send it to you.
For direct swaps, that someone is a vault or a solver. Chainflip and THORChain hold BTC in vaults that their validators control together. NEAR Intents uses solvers and settles on NEAR. Garden uses time-locked contracts on both networks, so you and a solver either both get paid or both get refunded after a set time. In this direction you wait little for the deposit, since Solana confirms in seconds. The wait is mostly the Bitcoin payout.
For BTC tokens on Solana, the real BTC already sits with an issuer. Coinbase holds the BTC behind cbBTC and unwraps it only inside a Coinbase account. cbBTC transfers are not offered in some regions, such as Canada and Japan. Zeus Network nodes hold the BTC behind zBTC, and Zeus says holders can withdraw to a Bitcoin address through APOLLO without an identity check. WBTC also exists on Solana, but only approved institutions can redeem WBTC directly.
Liquidity is the other limit. Fewer services and pools serve Solana to Bitcoin than Ethereum to Bitcoin. Quotes for the same amount can differ a lot, especially for large trades.
Possible approaches
1Native cross-chain swap
You sell SOL or USDC on Solana and receive native BTC from a validator-run vault (Chainflip, THORChain for SOL).
Trade-offNo account and real BTC at the end, but you trust the vault during the swap.
2Intent-based swap
You send tokens to a deposit address, a solver pays you BTC, and the deal settles on NEAR (NEAR Intents).
Trade-offSimple, but you rely on the service and its contracts. It paused for about half a day after an exploit in October 2026.
3Atomic swap
You lock your Solana tokens in a time-locked contract and a solver locks BTC on Bitcoin. Both sides complete, or both get refunded (Garden).
Trade-offNo shared vault, but only for the pairs and sizes solvers will take.
4Issuer redemption
You hand a BTC token back to its issuer and get BTC (cbBTC through Coinbase, zBTC through Zeus APOLLO).
Trade-offNo swap pricing, but each issuer has its own rules, and cbBTC needs a Coinbase account.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native cross-chain swap (Chainflip) | Native BTC | Usually under an hour | Swap fee + Bitcoin payout cost | SOL or USDC to BTC, no account |
| Native cross-chain swap (THORChain) | Native BTC | Usually under an hour | Swap fee + outbound fee | SOL to BTC, when its quote is best |
| Intent-based swap (NEAR Intents) | Native BTC | Usually under an hour | Built into the quote | Simple quotes, when the service is running |
| Atomic swap (Garden) | Native BTC | Usually under an hour | Solver margin + network fees | cbBTC or SOL to BTC with no shared vault |
| Coinbase unwrap (cbBTC) | BTC in your Coinbase account | Once the Solana deposit is credited | Solana fee, then a Bitcoin withdrawal fee | cbBTC holders with a Coinbase account |
| Centralized exchange | BTC, after selling | Minutes to hours | Trading + withdrawal fee | Large amounts, if you already have an account |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chainflip | Native BTC | Validator vaults | Send SOL, USDC or USDT on Solana to a one-time deposit address. Set a Solana refund address. |
| NEAR Intents | Native BTC | Solvers, settled on NEAR | Paused for about half a day after an exploit on 1 Oct 2026, then resumed. Affected users were promised refunds. |
| Garden Finance | Native BTC | Atomic swap | Supports Solana. Useful for cbBTC to BTC without a Coinbase account. Check the app for current Solana pairs. |
| THORChain | Native BTC | Validator vaults | Solana went live on THORChain in 2026, for SOL only. Its Solana pool is newer, so compare quotes on large swaps. |
| cbBTC redemption (Coinbase) | BTC in a Coinbase account | Coinbase | Send cbBTC to your Coinbase BTC address on the Solana network. Coinbase unwraps it to BTC. Needs a verified account. |
| zBTC (Zeus Network) | Native BTC | Zeus Network nodes | Withdraw zBTC to a Bitcoin address through the APOLLO app. Check the app for current limits and fees. |
| LI.FI | Depends on the route | Depends on the route | Compares routes in one place. Check that the final output is native BTC on Bitcoin. |
| Centralized exchanges | BTC, then withdraw | Exchange holds funds | Deposit SOL or USDC on Solana, sell for BTC and withdraw. Account and ID checks usually needed. |
How to move Solana to Bitcoin
These steps show a direct SOL or USDC to BTC swap through Chainflip, either in its own app or in a wallet or app that uses it. NEAR Intents apps follow a very similar flow. If you hold cbBTC or zBTC, read the redemption notes first.
- 1
Get a Bitcoin address you control
Use a Bitcoin wallet such as Sparrow, Electrum, a hardware wallet app or a multi-chain wallet with Bitcoin support. Bitcoin addresses start with bc1, 1 or 3. A Solana address will not work here, even if your wallet shows both.
- 2
Keep some SOL in your Solana wallet
Every Solana transaction needs a small amount of SOL for fees. If you are selling USDC or cbBTC, make sure some SOL is left in Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. If you sell SOL itself, do not send your whole balance.
- 3
Get a quote and set a refund address
Choose SOL or USDC on Solana as what you send and BTC on Bitcoin as what you get. Paste your Bitcoin address. Enter your Solana address as the refund address, so a failed swap comes back to you. Check the minimum swap size and the slippage limit.
- 4
Send to the deposit address
The app gives you a Solana deposit address made for this one swap. Send exactly the token and network it asks for. Do not reuse it for a later swap. Solana confirms the deposit in seconds.
- 5
Wait for the BTC payout
Once the swap runs, the service sends BTC on Bitcoin. You can often see the payout in mempool.space before it confirms. A Bitcoin block comes about every 10 minutes on average, but the gaps vary, so this part sets the pace.
- 6
Track it and check the result
Follow the swap on Chainflip Scan with your deposit address or swap ID. Look up the Bitcoin payout on mempool.space. If the price moved past your limit, the service sends your tokens back to the Solana refund address, minus fees.
Fees and timing
The Solana side is cheap. Sending your deposit costs a tiny SOL fee. That is the main difference from leaving Ethereum, where gas can be a real cost on small amounts.
The swap is where you pay. There is the service fee, any extra fee the app adds, and the spread. The Bitcoin payout also has a cost, either as a separate outbound fee (THORChain) or built into the quote. Bitcoin fees depend on how busy the network is, and they hurt small swaps the most.
On large amounts, slippage (a worse price because the trade is big) is the biggest cost. Pool depth differs a lot between services on this route. THORChain's Solana pool is newer than its Ethereum pools. Get quotes from Chainflip, NEAR Intents and THORChain, or use an aggregator, and think about splitting big swaps. Redeeming cbBTC through Coinbase avoids swap pricing, but a normal Coinbase withdrawal fee applies when you move the BTC out.
Common mistakes
- Spending all your SOL and leaving nothing for fees. You then cannot move USDC or cbBTC until you get more SOL.
- Pasting a Solana address where the Bitcoin address should go, or the other way round. Bitcoin payouts cannot be reversed.
- Using THORChain for USDC on Solana. In 2026 THORChain lists only SOL on Solana, so pick a service that accepts the token you hold.
- Sending cbBTC to Coinbase without picking the Solana network on the BTC receive screen. Use the address Coinbase shows for Solana.
- Treating cbBTC, zBTC and other wrapped BTC as the same. Each has its own issuer and its own way back to BTC.
- Reusing an old swap deposit address. These addresses are made for one swap and may expire.
Before you transfer
- Start with what you hold. SOL and USDC suit a direct swap. For cbBTC or zBTC, check the issuer's redemption route first.
- Keep a little SOL in the wallet so you can pay fees, even when selling another token.
- Check which tokens each service accepts on Solana. THORChain takes only SOL there.
- Compare quotes from several services for large amounts. Pool depth on this route varies a lot.
- Check service status before sending. Swap services sometimes pause after incidents.
- If you hold tBTC or WBTC on Solana, a swap to BTC is usually simpler than redeeming. Check the issuer's site if you want to redeem.
Frequently asked questions
Use Chainflip, NEAR Intents, Garden or THORChain. Send SOL from your Solana wallet to the deposit address the app gives you, and receive native BTC at your Bitcoin address. No account is needed.
Not one that works without trust. You either swap through a service that holds BTC, or redeem a BTC token on Solana with its issuer.
Yes. Solana went live on THORChain in 2026. It supports SOL, not Solana USDC. Its Solana pool is newer than its Ethereum pools, so compare quotes on large swaps.
If you have a Coinbase account, send the cbBTC to your Coinbase BTC address on the Solana network. Coinbase credits it as BTC. Without an account, swap it to BTC with a service such as Garden.
Zeus Network says yes. You withdraw zBTC to a Bitcoin address through its APOLLO app. Zeus nodes hold the BTC, so you rely on them for the release.
Yes. Chainflip and NEAR Intents accept USDC on Solana and pay native BTC. Keep some SOL in the wallet for the transaction fee.
Solana confirms your deposit in seconds. Most of the wait is the Bitcoin payout, with a block about every 10 minutes on average. Large swaps may take longer.
