Aggregator
Rubic
Rubic is a cross-chain swap aggregator running since 2020. According to its documentation, it compares more than 340 DEXs, bridges and intent protocols across 70+ networks and shows the best quote in one interface.
Official websiteHow it works
- 1You choose the token you have, the token you want and the networks in the Rubic app.
- 2Rubic queries its connected DEXs and bridges and lists the routes with expected amount and time.
- 3You confirm one route in your wallet. For non-EVM networks such as Bitcoin or TON you only enter the receiving address.
Trust model
Rubic routes your swap through third-party bridges and DEXs, so you take on the risks of the provider in the chosen route plus Rubic's own contracts, which you approve to spend your tokens. In December 2022 an exploit of a Rubic contract took funds from users who had left unlimited token approvals.
Strengths
- Very wide coverage, including Bitcoin, TON and TRON.
- No protocol fee on swaps under $100, according to Rubic.
- Sending to a non-EVM network does not require connecting a second wallet.
Limitations
- The quality of a route depends on the provider behind it; check which bridge is used.
- Past contract exploit: revoke unlimited approvals after use.
- As with any aggregator, support goes through Rubic and the underlying provider, which can slow down problem resolution.
