ChangeNOW vs SideShift: which instant exchange to use
Both let you swap crypto across networks without an account: you send to a deposit address and receive the other coin. ChangeNOW supports more coins and networks, SideShift is known for a clean interface and clear quotes. Both hold your funds during the swap and may ask for checks on flagged transfers.
The short answer
For rare coins or unusual networks, ChangeNOW is more likely to support the pair. For popular pairs like BTC, ETH, SOL and USDT on major networks, check both and take the better quote.
Both are custodial during the swap, so use them for transfers, not as a wallet.
How instant exchanges work
You choose what to send and what to receive, enter your receiving address and get a deposit address. After your deposit is confirmed, the service trades and sends the other coin to your address.
No account is needed for normal amounts. The rate includes the service spread and the network fees.
Side-by-side
The main differences in practice:
- Coins and networks: ChangeNOW lists more assets and networks; SideShift covers the most popular ones.
- Rates: both offer a floating rate and a fixed rate that is locked for a short time.
- Speed: both usually finish after the deposit confirms plus a few minutes for the payout.
- Limits: both have minimum amounts per pair; large amounts may need extra checks.
- Checks: both can hold a transfer for review if funds are flagged by their risk systems.
- Availability: SideShift is not available in some countries; check the terms of both services.
