Short answer
The standard Hyperliquid withdrawal sends USDC to Arbitrum for a 1 USDC fee. If you need the money on Optimism, you can either withdraw to Arbitrum and then bridge to Optimism, or pick a route to Optimism right away.
Circle says HyperCore withdrawals work to any CCTP chain, and Optimism is one of them. That way you receive native Circle USDC on Optimism. Relay, Across and deBridge also move funds from Hyperliquid to Optimism, usually from the HyperEVM or spot balance.
The recipient address on Optimism is the same 0x address as your Hyperliquid wallet. Gas on Optimism is paid in ETH, so it helps to have a little ETH for your next steps.
| Direct official bridge | No, the standard withdrawal goes to Arbitrum |
|---|---|
| Native USDC | Via Circle CCTP |
| Standard withdrawal fee | 1 USDC |
| Gas on Optimism | ETH |
| Gas on HyperEVM | HYPE |
Why this route is difficult
Hyperliquid is a separate blockchain, while Optimism is an Ethereum rollup. Hyperliquid's own bridge only connects it to Arbitrum.
That is why withdrawals straight to Optimism use CCTP and bridges that work with Hyperliquid.
Possible approaches
1Native USDC via CCTP
Circle burns USDC on Hyperliquid and mints it on Optimism.
Trade-offUSDC only, usually through a CCTP app.
2Intent bridge
A solver or relayer sends tokens on Optimism right away and then collects your funds on Hyperliquid.
Trade-offFast and you can receive ETH directly, but the fee depends on the quote.
3Via Arbitrum
Withdraw USDC to Arbitrum with the button, then bridge to Optimism with any bridge.
Trade-offTwo steps and two sets of fees.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC on Optimism | Depends on app and mode | App fee, if any | USDC on the HyperCore balance |
| Intent bridge (Relay, Across, deBridge) | USDC, ETH or another token on Optimism | Seconds to minutes | Bridge fee in the quote | If you want ETH on Optimism right away |
| Withdraw to Arbitrum, then bridge to Optimism | USDC on Optimism | Two transfers | 1 USDC plus the second bridge fee | If you prefer the withdraw button |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Circle CCTP | Native USDC on Optimism | Circle attestation | Circle says HyperCore withdrawals work to any CCTP chain. Hyperliquid's docs call CCTP the preferred method. |
| Relay | USDC, ETH or another token on Optimism | Solver fronts funds | Supports Hyperliquid as a source. Check which balance is debited. |
| Across | USDC or ETH on Optimism | Relayer fronts funds | Works with HyperEVM. Fee and time are shown in the quote. |
| deBridge | Tokens on Optimism | Solver fronts funds | Works with HyperEVM. Can swap into the token you need on Optimism. |
| LI.FI | Depends on the chosen bridge | Depends on the chosen bridge | The aggregator shows several routes. Check which bridge is selected. |
How to move Hyperliquid to Optimism
Intent bridge or CCTP app
- 1
Check your balance
USDC backing open positions cannot be withdrawn. Close positions or leave their margin on the account.
- 2
- 3
Check which balance is used
Some bridges only work with the HyperEVM or spot balance. If needed, move USDC inside Hyperliquid first.
- 4
Compare and sign
Check the amount you receive on Optimism and the fee, verify the address and confirm the transfer.
- 5
Confirm receipt
Find the transaction in a Optimism explorer and make sure the right token arrived.
Fees and timing
The standard withdrawal to Arbitrum costs 1 USDC. Going via Arbitrum adds a second bridge fee.
Direct routes to Optimism include the fee in the quote. Compare the final amount.
Common mistakes
- Expecting the Hyperliquid withdraw button to send funds to Optimism. It sends to Arbitrum.
- Withdrawing USDC that backs open positions.
- Starting a bridge from the HyperEVM balance while the USDC sits on the HyperCore trading account, or the other way round.
- Ending up on Optimism with no ETH, so the next transfer cannot be paid for.
Before you transfer
- Send a small amount first if you use the route for the first time.
- Check which Hyperliquid balance the funds are taken from.
- Open bridges and Hyperliquid only from official addresses.
