XRP to Solana Bridge
There is no trustless bridge from XRP to Solana. You either hold a wrapped token (wXRP, backed by XRP at Hex Trust and moved with LayerZero) or swap your XRP for a Solana coin.

Short answer
First decide what you want to hold on Solana. Most people really want SOL or USDC to use there. In that case, swap your XRP straight into SOL or USDC with THORChain or NEAR Intents from your own wallet like Xaman, or sell on an exchange and withdraw to Phantom. Either way, you no longer own XRP.
If you want to keep XRP's price while using Solana apps, wXRP is the answer. It is a token on Solana backed 1:1 by XRP held by Hex Trust. Only approved partners can create and redeem it, so a normal user usually buys wXRP on a Solana exchange like Jupiter instead of wrapping XRP.
An exchange is the easy option if you already have an account, and often the cheapest for small amounts. Just do not forget the destination tag when you deposit XRP. Getting it wrong is the classic way people lose time on this route.
| Trustless bridge | None |
|---|---|
| Wrapped XRP on Solana | wXRP (Hex Trust) |
| Swap options | THORChain, NEAR Intents |
| Usual swap time | A few minutes |
| Locked in every account | 1 XRP |
| Watch out for | Destination tags and memos |
Why this route is difficult
The XRP Ledger was built for payments and its own built-in exchange. It has no general smart contracts that a bridge could use to lock XRP and release it when another network proves something. And Solana has no way to check what happens on the XRP Ledger.
Since neither network can check the other, every version of XRP on Solana depends on someone in the middle. For wXRP, Hex Trust holds the XRP and LayerZero moves the token between networks. For swaps, it is a group of validators (THORChain) or solvers settled on NEAR (NEAR Intents) that hold XRP on one side and pay you on the other.
So this route is really a trade, not a bridge. With a swap, you leave XRP and get SOL or a stablecoin. With wXRP, you keep XRP's price but trust a custodian, and you rely on the small wXRP market on Solana, which is much smaller than for SOL or USDC.
The XRP Ledger also has its own account rules. Every account must keep a reserve (now 1 XRP), and exchanges use destination tags to tell deposits on a shared address apart. Swap services use memos. These details cause most of the problems on this route.
Possible approaches
1Custodial wrapped XRP
A regulated custodian holds XRP 1:1 and issues a matching token on Solana.
Trade-offYou keep XRP's price, but rely on the custodian and the bridge that moves the token.
2Native cross-chain swap
Your XRP is sold for SOL or a stablecoin on Solana through a group of validators or solvers.
Trade-offNo wrapped token, but you no longer own XRP.
3Centralized exchange
Deposit XRP, sell it, and withdraw a Solana coin.
Trade-offSimple, but you need an account and the exchange holds your coins.
Options compared
| Option | You get | Typical time | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native swap (THORChain, NEAR Intents) | SOL, USDC or USDT | 1-10 min | Network + swap fee, slippage | Own wallet, want SOL or stablecoins |
| Buy wXRP on Solana | wXRP (backed 1:1 by a custodian) | Seconds, with funds on Solana | Exchange fee + slippage | Keeping XRP price on Solana |
| Centralized exchange | SOL or USDC in your wallet | Minutes to an hour | Trading + withdrawal fee | People who already use one |
| Aggregator (Squid, Rango) | Depends on route | Depends on route | Fees of the chosen route | Comparing quotes |
Working solutions
| Solution | You receive | Custody / verification | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| wXRP (Hex Trust) | wXRP on Solana | Hex Trust, moved by LayerZero | Created by approved partners. Most people buy it on Solana exchanges. |
| THORChain | SOL | Validator vaults | Real XRP in, real SOL out. Instructions go in the memo. |
| NEAR Intents | SOL, USDC, USDT | Solvers, settled on NEAR | Real XRP in. Tagged addresses not supported via 1Click. |
| Squid | Supported Solana tokens | Depends on route | Compares XRP routes. Check your exact pair is offered. |
How to move XRP Ledger to Solana
These steps show a swap of XRP for SOL in a THORChain or NEAR Intents app. It is the most common way when you use your own wallet, and you end up with real SOL, not a wrapped token.
- 1
Get both wallets ready
Keep your XRP in your own XRP Ledger wallet, like Xaman or a hardware wallet with the XRP app. 1 XRP always stays locked in the account and cannot be sent. Copy your receiving address from Phantom or Solflare on Solana.
- 2
Get a quote
Open the swap app, choose XRP on the XRP Ledger as what you send and SOL on Solana as what you get, then paste your Solana address. Check the amount you will get and the slippage limit.
- 3
Send exactly as shown
The app either asks you to confirm in your wallet or gives you a deposit address. For THORChain, the memo holds your swap instructions. Without it, your coins may not be swapped. Copy any memo or destination tag the app shows, exactly.
- 4
Do not send from an exchange
Exchange withdrawals often cannot add the memo you need, and NEAR Intents 1Click does not support XRP addresses that use a destination tag. Move your XRP to your own wallet first.
- 5
Follow both sides
Your XRP payment confirms in seconds and shows on XRPScan. The swap status shows in the app, and the SOL appears on Solscan under your Solana address.
- 6
If you get a refund
If the price moves past your slippage limit, these protocols usually send your XRP back to the address you sent from, minus network fees. That is one more reason to send from your own wallet, not a shared exchange address.
Fees and timing
XRP Ledger fees are a tiny fraction of an XRP, so sending costs almost nothing. The real cost is the swap: a protocol or solver fee, plus slippage that grows when your trade is large compared to the money in the pool. THORChain also takes a payout fee to cover the Solana transaction it sends you.
For wXRP, you pay the exchange fee and price impact when buying it on Solana. Far fewer people trade it than SOL or USDC, so a big purchase can move the price noticeably. Centralized exchanges charge a trading fee and a fixed fee to withdraw SOL or USDC. That is fine for small amounts, less so if you trade often.
The wait comes mostly from the swap service. The XRP Ledger settles payments in a few seconds and Solana is even faster, so most of the time is the protocol spotting your deposit, matching it and sending your payout. Expect a few minutes for a swap. On exchanges it depends on how fast they credit deposits and send withdrawals.
Common mistakes
- Depositing XRP to an exchange without the destination tag. The coins sit unassigned until support finds them.
- Sending XRP straight from an exchange to a swap service that needs a memo, or giving an exchange address as the refund address.
- Trying to send all your XRP. It fails because the 1 XRP reserve cannot be spent.
- Buying a token with an XRP-like name on a Solana exchange without checking it is the real wXRP mint from Hex Trust.
- Arriving on Solana with wXRP or USDC but no SOL to pay for the next transaction.
- Thinking anyone can redeem wXRP directly. Only approved partners can.
Before you transfer
- wXRP is an IOU for XRP held by Hex Trust, not XRP on the XRP Ledger.
- XRP Ledger accounts keep 1 XRP locked. Sending to an exchange usually needs a destination tag.
- Send to swap services from your own wallet like Xaman, not from an exchange.
- Copy memos and destination tags exactly as the app shows them.
- Check how much wXRP trades on Solana exchanges before buying a lot.
- Check the wXRP token mint address before buying.
- Keep a little SOL on Solana for fees after the swap.
Frequently asked questions
Not directly. Real XRP does not exist on Solana. You either swap XRP for a Solana coin like SOL or USDC, or hold wXRP, a token backed by XRP held at Hex Trust.
Not as real XRP. Phantom can hold wXRP on Solana. You can also get SOL or USDC in Phantom by swapping XRP through THORChain, NEAR Intents or an exchange.
THORChain and NEAR Intents accept real XRP and pay out SOL. Send from your own XRP wallet and follow the memo or deposit instructions exactly.
No. wXRP is backed 1:1 by XRP held by Hex Trust, and approved partners can redeem it. But on Solana it is a token that relies on a custodian, and its value depends on that backing.
On Solana exchanges and aggregators like Jupiter. Check that the token mint matches the one Hex Trust publishes, and check how much trades before buying a large amount.
A swap usually takes a few minutes. The XRP payment confirms in seconds. Most of the time is the swap service handling your deposit and sending the payout.
It depends where you send. Exchanges need a destination tag for deposits, and THORChain uses a memo for swap instructions. Always copy whatever the receiving app shows.
