Canonical bridge
Scroll Bridge
The official bridge between Ethereum and Scroll, a ZK rollup. Deposits usually arrive within 15 to 20 minutes; withdrawals to Ethereum take a few hours and need a claim on Ethereum.
Official websiteHow it works
- 1You open the bridge on the Scroll site, pick the token and the direction, and confirm the transaction.
- 2Deposits are picked up from Ethereum and credited on Scroll.
- 3Withdrawals are batched, and a zero-knowledge proof of the batch is verified on Ethereum. After that you claim the funds on Ethereum with a separate transaction.
Trust model
Withdrawals are released only after Ethereum verifies a validity proof, so no group of signers controls the funds. You rely on Scroll's proof system and contracts, which the Scroll team can still upgrade.
Strengths
- Official route secured by validity proofs.
- No week-long challenge period.
- No fee beyond network gas.
Limitations
- Withdrawals take hours and require a manual claim that costs Ethereum gas.
- Slower than liquidity bridges for both directions.
- Connects only Ethereum and Scroll.
