Rosen Bridge
Rosen Bridge connects Ergo with Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain and Dogecoin. It is one of the few working bridges for Bitcoin and Dogecoin to Cardano, but it is still labelled beta.
Official websiteHow it works
- 1You lock coins on the source network in a Rosen address and say where they should arrive.
- 2Watchers, independent operators for each network, report the deposit on Ergo. Ergo acts as the record keeper for every transfer.
- 3Once enough Watchers agree, a fixed group called Guards signs a release on the destination network. You receive a wrapped version of the coin, for example rsBTC on Cardano.
Trust model
You trust the Guards. They hold the multisig or threshold keys on every connected network, and a set majority of them must sign each release. Watchers can be penalised for false reports, but the final signature still comes from the Guard set.
Strengths
- Connects networks without smart contracts, such as Bitcoin and Dogecoin, with Cardano and EVM chains.
- Every transfer is recorded on Ergo, so it can be checked afterwards.
- Anyone can become a Watcher by staking RSN and ERG.
Limitations
- Still in beta, with modest liquidity for the wrapped tokens it issues.
- You usually receive a wrapped token (such as rsBTC), not the original coin.
- The Guard set is small and fixed, so the bridge depends on a few operators.
